Define the Design Problem
- Write a paragraph defining the design problem as you heard it today (this is the beginning of your design brief). Place it in Google Drive, label "last name-P3-design-problem".
Collect information / research
- Post 2-3 poster designs that highlight a particular location. Using the language of art and design write 2-3 sentences about why you picked these designs. Label your post with the word "poster" and link back to the original / attribute the creator.
- Research on a Chicagoland location of your choosing.
- Write 2 pages about the location, be sure to include the name of the location, address, URL, social media links, contact info, phone, as well as, history, significance, your reasons for choosing the location and anything else you feel might assist you in the completion of this project. Place it in Google Drive, label "locationname-P3-research". Be ready do discuss this at the next class.
- Begin to conceptualize and sketch a solution for your poster design.

- Refine your concepts from the weekend
- Group work. Break off into groups of two and present your concepts to your partner as if they were the client; describe in detail your objectives. After 30 mins. be prepared to present your partners concepts to the class.

- Post 2-3 type-heavy poster designs. Using the language of art and design write 2-3 sentences about why you picked these designs. Label your post with the word "type-poster" and link back to the original / attribute the creator.
Brainstorm and Analyze
- Review the research that has already been complete on the location you will now be working on - fill in any gaps.
Develop Solutions
- Sketch a minimum of 3 solutions to the design problem.
- Refine the copy for your poster. Go back to the Google Doc labeled "locationname-P3-research", add a new page and copy / paste all text you will use for your poster design, be sure to add in headlines and a tagline.
- Remember to refer to your notes on elements of poster design.
- Write a design brief for the project. Place it in Google Drive, label "last name-P3-design-brief".
- Come to class prepared to work.

- Packaged InDesign files - includes: native file (.indd and .idml) and a PDF file (.pdf), images, fonts, instructions
- Original image(s): Bibliography of all resources / images used

- Document all image sources. You are required to submit a bibliography with your project. Refer to MVCC's Siting Sources Guide for more info.
